Issue 2: OCT 2020 Newsletter

ISSUE 2

October. Here we are. It’s a new world. Not an unfamiliar world entirely. But, a different one. Some of us are back to work. Some of us are still “away” visiting child-hood homes or finding comfort outside of the big cities we would normally be working in. Some of us are contemplating the possibility of another lock-down, and others are eagerly awaiting job offers.

It’s hard to remember a time when Health and Safety Managers didn’t exist on set, or a day when a new pack of facemasks didn’t sit on the entryway table beside our keys as a reminder to never leave home without them.

We’ve changed. We’re learning how to navigate this new world. Had I written this letter last year, I’m sure I would have taken this moment to remind us all about how the holiday season is a time of year to reflect, to slow down and to rest. But, it’s the end of October. We have an election to get through.

Vote. It’s important. No, actually, it’s vital. We need to show up. All of us. This is why we are in a union. It takes a collective action to bring about the greatest changes. We are stronger together. That’s science. We have mountains to move. We’ll get there, if we work together.

As we near the end of 2020, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude for your support of this Newsletter and for giving our members a voice. Now, more than ever before, I truly understand the need for connection and support of one another. We’ve been through a lot.
